Wharton Square Social Housing

Arguably the most well-appointed social housing in the city, the four corners of the building are celebrated with prominent balconies to capitalise on the impressive views of Edinburgh. The intricately designed projecting balconies characterise the corner elevations, employing galvanized steel sections, mesh and flat bar to create generous private spaces for the residents. At the heart of the building is a south-facing octagonal courtyard animated with galvanized steel balconies suspended in a staggered fashion across the elevations allowing inhabitants to step out into the sunshine and enjoy the social conviviality of the courtyard.
