To provide shade for the town square of Zwenkau in Germany, Knoche Architects created ‘Shadow Play’, a sculptural installation that echoes the natural elements of the lake shore nearby; the light and the constantly moving surface of the large body of water. The galvanized steel structure comprises of steel lamellas, vertically arranged with various heights and distances from each another. This produces shadows of differing sizes that change constantly with the course of the sun, creating a lively and captivating scene on the lower plateau of the port.
